This from Newsday...
Plaxico Burress' date with justice is being pushed back once again. His attorney has told Newsday that when the former Giants wide receiver appears in Manhattan Criminal Court Monday it will be to request a second adjournment. Burress and the prosecution asked for an adjournment at a previously scheduled hearing on March 31.
Benjamin Brafman, Burress' attorney, said his client would be in attendance at the hearing.
Burress is facing two gun charges after accidentally shooting himself in the leg in a Manhattan night club in November. Those second-degree felony charges each carry a 3 1/2-year minimum jail sentence, although those charges are typically plea bargained to lower crimes with less time served.
According to reports, Burress is pushing to avoid any jailtime and has hopes of playing in the NFL in 2009. The Giants released him shortly after his first adjournment. The Jets are among the handful of teams that have reached out to his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, about the possibility of signing Burress....
JOSH'S QUICK TAKE...
Plaxico is amazing and talented, but he is not above the law. Michael Vick had the book thrown at him, lets throw it at Plax too. Time for jail.
